COMPANY HISTORY

The business was originally started in 1988 by John Hardy, F.C.A. and has grown and developed throughout the years. As a Group we work with independent retailers and suppliers and other service providers. Although a National Company, S & L UK has always been Northern based with its roots firmly embedded in Yorkshire. 2003 saw many changes to the structure of the company following the passing of its founder and the taking up of the reins by his widow, Ann Hardy, when she amalgamated a number of businesses under the S & L UK Group banner.

THE PRESENT

There have been many changes throughout the business during the last twelve months such as becoming a Limited Company but the Directors did not lose sight of their objectives which is always to be professional in all their dealings. The Group is expanding with new suppliers being introduced on a regular basis. The Directors and employees of S & L UK are enthusiastic about the industry they work in and welcome any enquiries from prospective retailers who would like to learn more about membership of the Group.

THE FUTURE

The company has a reputation for being forward thinking which is why we are pleased to be associated with UK Youth, The John Hardy Trust and Kids 4 Kids. The aim of the Group is to not only aid our retailers with their day to day business opportunities but to help promote sports, fitness and activity in all ages, especially the young. We feel educating our young people is important and for us that means a "play sport, don't just watch sport" culture and a "be active, be well" philosophy.
The future growth of the business will envisage us continuing to work with industry suppliers, import complimentary services and to develop similar programmes into other associated areas as well as other industries.

COMPANY HISTORY

Started by Ann Hardy in 1998 EFL (Exercise, Fitness & Leisure) is a retail web site offering many of the bigger products not normally found in the smaller sports retail outlets. The outlook of the site has been changed twice since its development and boasts over 200 pages of information and advice accumulated over the years to aid and help the consumer work towards a fitter healthier lifestyle.The site has been nominated as a recognised Which! Web Trader, operates a secure server facility, has a number of search engines within its system and has won two Golden Web Awards for Excellence Achieved in Web Design, Creativity and Content.

THE PRESENT

EFL currently offers a wide variety of equipment and not just for home use, but includes equipment for the professional and also the disabled. The site promotes activity in the young and through its leisure pursuit products tries to encourage those couch potatoes to exercise.
The joining together of the EFL business with the others in the S & L UK Group is encouraging for the web sites future business potential. New suppliers products are being introduced on a regular basis and Special Offers are shown every month with a view to making savings for the consumer. Quality of product and service are paramount to the success of the business.

THE FUTURE

With the new relationship being developed between EFL and the S & L UK Group the future looks bright for the web site. New products and incentives to encourage all consumers to a fit and healthy lifestyle will become of the utmost importance to EFL. New competitions will be introduced and with the new connection to the Charities related to the S & L UK Group the growth and development of EFL will be assured.
